As you read this, or around the time you'll be reading this, I shall be in close proximity to the international airport, luggage in hand, or checked in, waiting to board a plane to Singapore. I am heading over to Europe for the rest of the year. Five whole weeks!
This is a fairly private blog, but to fill you in on a little bit of the background - here goes.
This trip has been talked about by my immediate family for the past, maybe, ten years? At each point something has come up and we've ben too apprehensive to book anything. Last year, around August, we decided, to just do it. To book the flights & sort the rest as it got closer. Initially we booked for July this year, then the "global financial crisis" hit and we realised we wouldn't have been able to afford the trip we wanted, so we postponed it to December.
This year is my parents 25th wedding anniversary, the trip is a celebration, a gift and a holiday. It is our first overseas family trip & more than likely our last while my brother & I are as young as we are.
Everyone seems to balk at the idea of going away for "five whole weeks" with family. I'll only say it once, but my family is close, closer than most. Sure we'll probably piss each other off a fair bit, but we'll still have an awesome holiday.
I'm going to say upfront that I have no intention of keeping this blog up to date with all my adventures. However I do hope to get on here occasionally and let you know what I've been up to.
