Today. Was freezing! I was wearing 200dn tights (boys, go ask a girl what that means), knitted tights and thermals underneath a full length skirt, a tight singlet/tank top, a 3/4 sleeve crossover top, a long sleeve top, a leather jacket, a scarf and leather gloves. And if we didn't keep moving, I GOT COLD!! It's crazy. It's also really hard to manage the changes in temperature as all the stores are at a really comfortable level. You walk in, take all the layers off, walk out, put them all back on again!
This morning we caught the train into the city & went to McDonald's for breakfast. Don't think those thoughts, in Germany, they actually serve food that resembles the pictures!! AND they served some of the best fruit & yoghurt I've had. I think we'll be there tomorrow too...just quietly.
After that the boys wanted to go the BMW Museum (we should have gone too after all the photos and stories we saw and heard!). So mother & I were left to wander the streets... money in hand! We must have ben, once again in the expensive part of town. Even the clothes that were on special were €150+. However in one store I managed to find a Pandora counter! My intention was to add a Pandora bead for each country I visited, however finding a Pandora around where we were in London & Paris proved rather difficult. SO I made up for it and spent a good €100+ on the most gorgeous bead! I'll hopefully add a few more pieces during my stay in Italy too.
Then we wandered some more & sat in a cafe drinking cappucinos & hot chocolates to pass the time.
When the boys joined us we found an eatery that weighed your food to get the price. It was like a once only buffet. You filled up your plate, got any drinks & desserts (pre priced) that you wanted and then took your tray (cafeteria style) to the 'kasse'. Then they weighed your plate. €17.90 a kilo. =/ I ate 300gms or something close to that. Strange to see your meal in grams!!
We wandered the markets, keen to pass the hours between lunch and dinner so we could go to another bierhaus. It didn't happen. We found another market & 'stumbled' (followed mum blindly) inside. She was drawn in by the bread. One of the ladies there found a sucker family. We walked out with half a 'loaf' of bread... the loaf being about 40cm in diameter, a jar of pesto and a jar of capsicum/onion spread... Oh, and naturally dried apple chips. But I have to say, the food is delicious and it's all totally natural & of course it's also supporting the local farmers. Win!
Heading back to the hotel, we took the undergound (again so amayed at it's simplicity) and walked back in the crisp evening air. Bayer Munich are playing tonight so the boys have paid for the channel and are watching it ...in about 4 mintues. Right now the hotel lobby is full of Italians and I am drowning in happiness at the sound of their accents. *dream* 2 sleeps to go!
Tomorrow... I have no idea what we have planned. McDonald's for breakfast I'm sure. I am hoping to treat myself to a nice long bath as well as a shower...
Who knows... maybe it will snow tomorrow!
<3 to your mother.
